I started practicing Bikram Yoga approximately 2 years ago. My wife had been practicing Bikram Yoga for about 3 months at that time and she would come home and tell me how energetic and relaxed she was feeling since taking the classes. At first I was reluctant and felt that I would not be able to tolerate the heat and endurance of 90 minutes of exercise. She told me that there were other students in the class who were older than me.
During my first class, I was not sure if I would be able to last the whole ninety minutes. However, after every class I started feeling more confident. The benefits that I have experienced are:
I have lost approximately 20lbs and my body has toned.
I am flexible and fit and more active with my other sports activities.
My digestive system is better and I feel more energetic after the class and the following morning.
Ninety minutes of concentration helps me clear my mind of many issues that we face every day in our personal and working life.
Most of all, what I really admire is the welcoming and belonging experience that I feel soon as I enter the door. Overall, at Bikram Yoga all the teachers are supportive and they let each student progress at their own pace regardless of their age or fitness level.
